Happy Indian New Year from Udaipur. It is 2070 according to the Hindu Lunar Calendar. The 50 in this little blog was meant to stand for 50 days...not 50 years. I am looking and feeling pretty outstanding for 102.
Udaipur is a beautiful city. Lakes and palaces and mountains. These all can be seen from my little room on the water. I slide open the window despite the heat and I sit on the ledge. My heart skips a beat to see ghats. I am momentarily taken back to Varanasi. Same same but different.
After taking a shower in my little private bathroom, I discover a public bathing ghat right below my window. Same same but different.
I take a chai at the water's edge. Good but not chai by the Ganges. Same same but very different.
I meet a massage therapist who is far too curious about my pelvic cavity. He shows me a little neatly bound book of testimonials. I can't tell you how many testimonials I have read since arriving in India. Same same never different. Weird little scriptures.
And I meet Meenu. She deserves an entire post of her own. I will think of this strong willed, bright woman when I think of Udaipur.
